The oscilloscope must also do its part and be of excellent quality. For this analysis, for some types of measurement, including ripple measurement, very short cables, and very high-quality probes must be used. The problem becomes worse,when the measured frequency is higher. ![]() The probe and ground conductors create a parasitic inductance that negatively affects the signal to be measured. The cables that lead to the oscilloscope tips form a loop. At high levels, this choice is not the best. Measuring the ripple with an oscilloscopeĪn oscilloscope performs ripple measurements (see Figure 1). But for other more critical applications, such as medical applications, the limits are even narrower. The sum of the sources of error must be only a few mV. ![]() Engineers may have difficulty making accurate measurements using an oscilloscope. It is often difficult to measure accurately.
